Mantra

Mantra is defined as 'man' meaning ‘mind’ and 'tra' meaning ‘release’. A mantra is a mystical formula of invocation or incantation. A sort of prayer calling higher consciousness to produce a particular effect. There are various mantras that can be used. You choose what is comfortable for you. I will provide a few for your use:

My favorite mantra to use : Om Mani Padme Hum

This mantra is from one of the most popular deities in Asia: Kuan Yin. She is the Goddess of Mercy, Compassion and Wisdom. Her name translates to “She who hears the cries of the world”.

This is a very, very powerful mantra and it is said that anyone who chants this mantra a million times will be endowed with a special gift like clairvoyance. Many chant this mantra simply to invoke precious blessings from the Compassionate Bodhisattva.

This mantra is extensively purifying. Chant it 108 times to cleanse the chi of your home. As you chant, move slowly around the walls of your home and visualize the sounds of your chanting causing the energies to become crystal clear with purity.

Click the name of Kuan Yin or picture for more information on the Bodhisattva.

Another mantra from the Sanskrit language  is: Amaram Hum Madhuram Hum

Sanskrit language is the original language of the system of yogic meditation. It is a vibrational language and the 'aum' or 'hum' sound is known as the highest vibratory sound; just by repeating the sounds contained in this mantra one will feel peaceful. The meaning of this mantra: 'amaram' means immortal; 'hum', I am; and 'madhuram' means blissful. I am immortal I am blissful. From a scientific viewpoint, it means that the energy that we are in essence can never be destroyed and therefore is immortal; from a spiritual perspective, it can fit into one’s own beliefs regarding the spirit or soul that goes on after death.

Spiritual belief mantra’s: “Our father who art in heaven”, “Hail Mary, full of grace”, Amen, Shalom, Om, just to name a few.

Others: Peace, Relax, Love, Sleep…..

Repeat mantra out loud then go silently inside.

Four Stages of Mantra Meditation

The repetition of a mantra such as Amaram Hum Madhuram Hum is a useful technique in meditation. It is a tool that will help you to experience your own true nature. Learning new things, such as playing a musical instrument or speaking a foreign language, is often achieved through repetition. Mantra, although practiced with repetition, is not meant to be used only with unaware rote repetition. It is meant as a method of practice which brings about a power to reach the supreme state of consciousness. In this state there is silence within the mind which becomes still and eventually you will merge the mind or individual awareness with the whole, which is Pure Consciousness and Knowingness. Every time you practice you obtain the result, as this fourth state of consciousness is always with you. Therefore, the practice should be done with the awareness that you are obtaining the result rather than that you will obtain it someday in the future. The following is a focus for your repetition of mantra. You can experience these stages as you progress in your meditation. Mantra should be practiced with the focus that you, the Pure Consciousness, are meditating on Pure Consciousness.

1.     The sound is heard by your ears: In this stage repeat or sing the mantra out loud and then hear it silently inside the head.

2.     The sound is spoken inside your mind: In this stage repeat the mantra silently so that it becomes more apparent that it is permeating your mind.

3.     The life pulsation is felt and the mantra is spread in the whole sky or universe: After many repetitions, one may become aware that there is no longer anybody there to perceive, as the individual awareness gets absorbed in the space.

4.     All is Pure Existence and Consciousness: There is no time and space, there is nothing to describe about your experience.

Through mantra our mental being becomes subtler and subtler

and vaster and vaster until perfect Stillness

 or Oneness arises.

Be in Stillness and Seize the Moment!

Be Still NowCreating Stillness
